How does AI work?
AI works by learning from data. Just like people learn through experience, AI systems learn by processing large amounts of information and spotting patterns.
Here’s a simple breakdown of how it works:
-
Data – The AI is fed a huge amount of data (text, images, numbers, etc.).
-
Training – It uses that data to learn rules, patterns, and relationships. This process is often called machine learning.
-
Prediction or Action – Once trained, the AI can make decisions, give answers, or perform tasks based on new inputs.
-
Feedback loop – Some systems improve over time by learning from their mistakes or new data.
For example, a chatbot learns how to respond to questions by studying millions of conversations. A photo recognition AI learns to spot cats by analysing thousands of labelled images.
The more data and training it has, the smarter and more accurate the AI becomes.
